A new community is being planned for the North of Fareham that will include around 7,000 homes, affordable homes, businesses and schools. Work on site is likely to begin around 2014.The new community will be located north of the M27 and predominately to the West of the A32 between Knowle and Funtley.The site may contain 1 secondary school, 3 primary schools, at least one GP surgery and a health centre, a dentist surgery, shops and sport facilities. The new community will hopefully be designed so that people live within easy walking distance of local shops, schools, community facilities and employment opportunities. Public transport provision will be focused around the Bus Rapid Transit scheme (BRT) and a network of paths and cycleways will be integrated into the new development.

Summer/Autumn 2012 - Consultation on draft Area Action Plan
Spring/Summer 2013 - Examination in Public on Area Action Plan
Autumn/Winter 2013 - Area Action Plan for new community adopted.
Before development of the new community can begin, the landowners will have to obtain planning permission from the Borough Council. The Landowners Consortium will also have to fully engage with the community in preparing the planning application, which is expected to be received by the Council in late 2013.
2014 - Detailed planning permission and infrastructure sought
2014 - Preparation of the site starts
2016 - Development of housing and other facilities
2030 - Work Complete
