Some of you may have noticed at different times of the day the odd person running around the business park in Whiteley. The shape, layout and distance of the business park is perfect for gentle run which if you keep to the inside pavement except for one small length of road, you will be surprised to find that it is measured at 1.1 mile. Ideal for beginners and great for advanced runners who may want to run lap after lap. I personally run all over Whiteley but always put the Whitleley Mile in my run.
I decided to start running around 6 months ago after speaking to my good friend and not doing any exercise whatsoever. My first run was the Whiteley Mile. I did not know people knew it as this at first. By my amazement I found that I ran it without stopping. But, believe you me, it hurt and my lungs felt like they were bleeding !!! It was a good place to start.
6 months on and I am running just a little further and enjoying it very much. I have decided to enter races just to keep my focus on the running and have now been running and raising money for charity for 3 months. You can find my charity site on http://www.justgiving.com/JohnMacDonald71
Maybe we could start a running race in Whiteley?
If you do run around the Whiteley mile then please give me a wave or nod. If you don't, but have thought about dusting off them old trainers, well it’s right on your doorstep. Give it a go.
