The Test Way
This is a 44 mile long walking route that will take you from the high chalk downs at Inkpen, and will follow the course of the River Test to Eling where its waters become tidal and then flow into Southampton Water. This is Hampshire's longest chalk stream, world famous for trout fishing. The walk has been divided into 8 sections, each providing a good day-out. There are water meadows, tidal marshes, riverbank walks, steep hills or woodlands. The route passes through picturesque villages littered with listed buildings, houses and churches. It is well sign posted and waymarked. Horse-riders and cyclists can also use some parts. Parts of this walk following a railway line built in the 1860s on a canal bed. The Test Way

The Test Valley Tour
The Test Valley Tour is a series of walks and cycle routes which have been published on easy to follow weatherproof cards. Many of them pass through pretty villages and offer ideal rest stops at country inns. The routes, which are suitable for all abilities from families to serious off-road cyclists, can be bought individually or in packs from Romsey Tourist Information Centre. There are several cycling events held throughout the year aiming to attract leisure riders and enthusiasts to explore the country lanes and tracks. The Ordnance Survey Explorer map No 131 gives full coverage of most of Test Valley and is recommended as the best map for walkers to use. The routes are available in packs and can be purchased from the Tourist Information Centre.
