Newsflash

Burridge & Park Gate Womens Institute meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.15pm, in St Margaret Mary Church Hall, Middle Road, Park Gate.

Bleriot Crescent Development

HCC is planning to sell land off Bleriot Crescent and Lady Betty's Drive with planning permission and the details were provided to residents in April 2011. As part of this process there was the opportunity to comment on the proposals. East Whiteley Residents were especially interested in these proposals as they could provide an opportunity to resolve the problems of commuter traffic in Leafy Lane / Bleriot Crescent. Map

The number of units proposed has reduced from 90 to 75 with fewer two bedroom and more four bedroom units. Those on the main street will have front gardens.

Timeline

Details of the proposed plans are here: The Plans.

HCC Plans and details of the consultation process here: Plans and Consultation October 2011

HCC received 85 comments on the plans for Lady Betty's Drive and has to answer each one as they need to be included in a planning application. The planning application was submitted by HCC in October 2011.

As a guide: If planning permission is granted, this is maybe late 2011 / early 2012. Marketing of the site, choosing the preferred developer, and getting to the point of submitting a Reserved Matters application is likely to take around six to eight months. So the earliest that permission for the Reserved Matters application could be granted would be around winter 2012. Assuming the developer intended to commence construction at the earliest opportunity, this could begin would be approximately early 2013.

Residents main concerns were lack of School Places, Bussing Children out of Whiteley, density of the development and traffic issues.
