Yew Tree Drive and Whiteley Estate Emergency Traffic Plan
This is the Whiteley Emergency Traffic Plan that was developed when the Yew Tree Drive bus link was opened. It has been designed to be used as a tool in order to relieve congestion and gridlock that would be caused by the closure of Whiteley Way or the M27 Junction 9 roundabout and therefore it enables Yew Tree Drive to be used, along with Leafy Lane / Bader Way, when Whiteley Way is closed.
The police have reported that in the past 11 years there have only been two occasions that required the M27 Junction 9 roundabout to be closed, this resulted in major disruption to traffic wishing to enter and exit the Whiteley estate.
The aim of the Emergency Traffic Plan is to set out common procedure for all involved organisations to use in the event of a serious incident. These are to be used to restore access to the Whiteley estate and to minimise the effect on the travelling public
